If you care about mental health, you need to care about people who are mentally ill, also those with heavily stigmatized and/or lesser-known symptoms.
Even within the mental health community, it is difficult to talk about symptoms such as delusions and hallucinations. Topics like that are shied away from unintentionally with no malice intended but rather because it makes people feel “uncomfortable”.
We see mental health initiatives over generalized time and time again in the attempt to reach a wider audience and resonate with more people. This is not devaluing the very much needed conversations that these initiatives do - actually, we should be having these more, but also making sure that people living with psychotic disorders are represented.
